Proper attire is essential.

05

If the interview is conducted in English, adapt to the interviewer's English proficiency level, especially if they are not fluent.

02

If you are among them, make sure to arrive at least 5 minutes early.

04

During the interview, avoid interrupting your interviewer(s), refrain from excessive talking, keep your answers concise and to the point, and maintain a humble demeanour.

USEFUL DETAILS TO KNOW BEFORE TAKING A JOB INTERVIEW IN JAPAN

How should one prepare for it and what can be expected during the process? Success in a Japanese job interview depends greatly on a candidate's language proficiency and understanding of cultural norms. Details such as punctuality and attire can be decisive, particularly when choosing between equally qualified candidates. Interviewers meticulously scrutinize every aspect of the interview process.

The candidate must be at least 5 minutes early for an interview. Being late is considered rude and may impact your chances of getting the job. To avoid being late, check your travel time ahead: on the internet, or try to go to the place of the interview before the interview date. Leave early and expect some possible transportation delays. If you are going to be late, tell your interviewer as soon as possible.

PUNCTUALITY: IN JAPAN, EARLY IS ON TIME AND ON TIME IS LATE

WHAT TO WEAR FOR AN INTERVIEW IN JAPAN?

The candidate only has one chance to make a first impression, and this holds particularly true in Japan. Therefore, it is crucial to take this matter very seriously, as a single mistake could potentially cost you the job opportunity. In a job interview in Japan, your attire must be impeccable. Interviewers place significant importance on it and form their initial impressions of you based on it.
